What are Precinct Organizers?
Work in YOUR neighborhood
Precinct Organizers are our first-line volunteers to welcome new folks to the work of getting Democrats elected – and serving our community.
Shape our community outreach
POs are encouraged to assist in the planning, organization, coordination, and supervision of the Democratic activity within their precincts.
Vote for party leadership
POs are voting members of the Central and Vacancy Committees for the Broomfield County Democrats, State Senate District 25, and House District 33.
Have a BIG impact
Precinct Organizers are the cornerstone of Democracy in Colorado. POs are the community representatives who connect their Democratic neighbors from precinct to ward to the county party.
F.A.Q.
How do I become a Precinct Organizer?
Precinct Organizers are elected or appointed. POs are elected at their Precinct Caucus during even-numbered election years for a two-year term. They are elected either by a majority of the qualified Democratic attendees at Caucus or, in the event of a vacancy, are appointed by the Chair of the County party.
Okay, so how much work is this really?
Well, that entirely depends on you. Usually POs coordinate with the county party leaders on how much and what kind of work needs to be done, and what commitments the POs can realistically make. Right now – here at the end of 2025 in a contentious election season and headed to Caucus & Assembly in the spring – it’s a pretty big job. Each precinct in Colorado is allotted two POs – we should have 106. We’ve got about 20.
We have six months until the next election of Precinct Organizers, and we’re asking for help from people who can make a six month commitment to help us recruit new POs, outreach for caucus attendance, and help encourage Broomfield Democrats to step up and serve in 2026 & 2027.
You can learn what this will look like at our September 12th PO information Session. Click here to RSVP.
If I step up now do I have to stay on in March?
No, POs are elected during even-number years as part of the caucus & assembly process. If you step up today and commit to work with us until March 3rd of 2026 you will get to decide if you want to keep going and run for the position again or are ready to pass the torch to another.
Alright, I’m in. What are the qualifications?
You must be:
- A registered Democrat and reside within the precinct you represent.
- Willing to learn about and follow the Party and election-related rules and policies.
- Willing to attend two County Central Committee meetings per year
- Willing to attend the odd-year reorganization meetings for the County, State Senate, and House District leadership teams.
- Willing to support the designated Democratic candidates as appropriate. (No financial support is required.
