DON’T FORGET!
We’ve adopted the Cooking Oil shelf at Broomfield FISH
Bring your donation of any size bottle of cooking oil to our monthly meeting!
It’s easy to forget the little things when supporting our local food bank. Spices and seasonings, salt and pepper, butter, and cooking oil. Some of the things that are commonly donated need cooking oil to prepare, not to mention keeping items from sticking to the pan, sauteeing vegetables to make them oh-so tasty, and it’s the shelf at FISH foodbank that’s hardest to keep stocked.
So we’ve decided to adopt that shelf and encourage Broomfield Dems to help! You can always make donations directly to FISH, but if you’re coming to the meeting anyway, maybe grab an extra bottle of canola oil during your next shopping trip. 🙂
Open Space Cleanup – May 16th!!!
Bring your own work gloves — Litter bags will be provided: Once a quarter we meet to clean up the open space around the Brunner Farmhouse, from Main St. to Ash St. and from 10th Ave. to 3rd Ave. It’s a wonderful opportunity to bring some family and friends and spend an hour on beautiful Saturday mornings helping keep our community clean.
Broomfield Dems Monthly Meeting
Thursday, May 14: 6:30pm – 8:00pm
(Check-in begins at 6:15)
Meetings are held at the Broomfield Community Center
Lakeshore Room, Downstairs – 280 Spader Way
I can’t believe it’s already May, can you? I joke a lot that time is fake, but it feels extra surreal this last year. However! Time marches on whether we’re paying attention or not and we’ve got tomorrow’s monthly meeting scheduled with some great visitors.
If you haven’t had a chance to meet our newest council member, Katie Peterson, you’ll have the chance tomorrow! She joined council earlier this year to fill the seat in Ward 1 left vacant when Rep. Kenny Nguyen moved to the state House. I know she’s looking forward to the chance to connect with more Broomfield Dems, and I’m looking forward to hearing how her first months on council have been.
And I’m very excited about the presentation from AFL CIO (American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations). Lauren Martens will be visiting with some great information and an opportunity for thoughtful conversation around workers rights and the importance of unions.
Working People, Unions and the Fight Against Authoritarianism
Join us for a presentation and discussion on the power of unions in improving living standards, winning elections and in the fight back against Trump and authoritarianism. With Donald Trump and Elon Musk attacking workers’ rights, we need to fight back and strengthen them here in Colorado. We’ll talk about the Worker Protection Act, what’s happening with it, and how we can pass it.
And of course, come for the snacks. 😉
Look forward to seeing all of you!
Sasha Davis, Chair
