Reform the basic allowance for military housing
Trump’s 2025 plan will remove the cost-of-living adjustment for military families living in many urban areas such as Aurora Colorado, Marin County California and Seattle Washington. This will make it harder for married service members to live in decent housing near their duty stations.
Cost Saving Reforms for Environmental Cleanup at Defense Sites
Trump’s approach to contaminated lands on or around military bases and nuclear weapons facilities is to stop the clean up efforts. Project 2025 wants to abandon the remediation plans that are in progress by the Department of Defense. This will make current service members have to come in contact with hazardous, cancer-causing substances and affect future generations of Americans.
Cut Non-Defense Research from the Defense Budget
Project 2025 will take money away from any research that is non-combat related. In other words, research on more effective means of communication, or transport or construction or forecasting will be unfunded and ignored.
Combine Military Exchanges and Commissaries and reduce commissary subsidies
Trump’s Project 2025 will increase prices for service members and their families, making it harder for them to buy food, clothing, diapers and feminine products. This idea will eliminate jobs at Exchanges and prove to service members and retirees that our government doesn’t care about their welfare.
End Payment of Retirement Pay and Disability Compensation for Veterans
Trump really takes aim at “suckers and losers” with this provision in Project 2025. He wants to end disability payments for service members receiving military retirement. Our veterans, who are disabled deserve to be compensated for the wounds they suffered. But not in Project 2025’s view of the world.
End Enrollment in VA Medical Care for Priority Groups 7 and 8.
The goal of Project 2025 here is to prevent over 500,000 veterans of retirement age from receiving care from the VA. This is a shot at older Americans who served their country, many in the Vietnam era and after just when could really use quality healthcare.
Narrow Eligibility for VA Disability Determinations
In this provision of Project 2025, veterans who have been injured will be required to prove that every disability claim is related solely to their military duties. They will have to fight Trump’s government for their claims denied by GOP bureaucrats.
Put a 10 Year Limit on Initial Disability Applications
Project 2025 makes it harder for veterans who are suffering from chronic, deteriorating conditions such as exposure to Agent Orange, burn pits, hearing loss or vision changes if they don’t apply for disability within a ten-year window. Just another way that Trump’s plan will hurt veterans as they get older and need our help.
